I have received a generous donation of $500 USD to add a TCP/IP stack to BareMetal OS. I checked, and voila on Page 860 (Section 26.3) we can find nearly exact same lines. Volume 2 contains the 4.4BSD-Lite network stack source with lengthy explanations. Volume two of this series, TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 2: The Implementation, covers the implementation of TCP/IP. Unfortunately I do not have the . I'll try to address your questions here, but I also recommend referencing Wright and Stevens' TCP/IP Illustrated Volume 2, which dedicates an entire chapter to ARP implementation. TCP is one of the two original components of the suite, complementing the Internet Protocol (IP), and therefore the entire suite is commonly referred to as TCP/IP. I suggest reading TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1: The Protocols, 2nd ed. Volume 1: The Protocols; TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 2: The Implementation; TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 3: TCP for Transactions, HTTP, NNTP, and the UNIX.
